Training for the new Cub Scout VolunteerCUB SCOUT LEADER FAST START TRAININGFast Start Training is a brief introduction to the Cub Scout program that will equip you with the basic skills and information that you will need as a new Cub Scout leader. There are two ways in which to view Fast Start Training. The first is through a VHS videotape with 20-minute segments for the Cubmaster, Den Leaders, Webelos Den Leader, and basic Pack Organization. Your pack committee has a copy of their own that you may borrow, or copies are available for check-out from the Scout Service Center. For individuals with Internet access, you may view Fast Start Training by visiting the BSA Online Learning Center NEW LEADER ESSENTIALS TRAINING(approx. 90 minutes) The New Leader Essentials Course is a prerequisite for all other training courses! This brief, 90 minute session is designed for all Scout Leaders, regardless of position. Topics include rules & regulations of Scouting, the aims & methods of the Scouting program, and how to effectively work with young people. CUB SCOUT LEADER SPECIFIC TRAINING(approx. 2 hours) This training course is essential for all Cub Scout leaders. Basic Training covers the topics of den and pack meeting planning, pack finance and management, and special activity planning. The training includes special breakout sessions for each leader's position. All Cub Scout leaders should attend Leader Specific Training to help ensure a quality program to the Cub Scouts in your pack or den. WEBELOS DEN LEADER OUTDOOR TRAININGThis is a special supplemental training session for Den Leaders of 4th and 5th grade Webelos dens. It will give you the basic skills needed to conduct an outdoor program with your older Cub Scouts. MONTHLY ROUNDTABLESSupplemental training offered each month for all Cub Scout leaders to provide additional den and pack meeting ideas. New Cub Scout leaders will find a wealth of information and activitiesto use with the Cub Scouts in the pack. This is a fun-learning evening! |
