Monster Truck Bash

We have the final details for the Monster Truck Bash this weekend.  All of our tickets and sleepover vouchers will be located at the pit shack at Gate 25.  This pit shack is located on the backstretch side of Lowe’s Motor Speedway.  (See map and details below.)  Everyone regardless of whether you are sleeping over or not will have to come by Gate 25 to at least get their Monster Truck tickets.  Those camping will be able to get in as early as 2pm to set up camp.  This should make for a much smoother night after the race J The only restrictions for those sleeping over is: no open fires, generators running over night, or glass containers. Apparently, we are welcome to bring food and drinks to the Monster Truck event and sleepover - however coolers can not be any larger than 14”x14”.

  • Enter the Speedway at the intersection of Bruton Smith Blvd. & Hwy. 29, turn left and follow to Gate 25.
  • You must check in at Gate 25 (see blue star on map) and bring your photo ID.  Also, make sure you identify yourself as part of Pack 97 and/or reservations under the name of Amy Irali
  • For Those Camping:
    • After receiving your sleepover wristband from the Gate 25 check-in, please drive to Gate 26 and show the security guard your wristband in order to gain access to the infield.  (See red star on map)
    • Drive through Gate 26 tunnel, turn left and park your car in the designated sleepover parking lot.  Please do not drive into the sleepover area (See red box on map).
  • Once you are ready to go the Monster Truck Bash, please follow the directions above (see red line on map) to drive to The Dirt Track and park in the designated area (see green star on map).
  • Following the Monster Truck Bash, those camping should return to the infield of the speedway and park in the same designated area.  You are welcome to walk around the infield, along pit road, and on the track.  Please be careful and do not leave children unattended.

District Program Launch

The District Program Launch will be at Belk Tonawanda Park on August 21, 2008 starting at 6:30pm.  This event is encouraged for all leaders, assistant leaders, and committee members and is also open for interested parents and adults.   They will be providing us with district calendars, program support materials, den leader kits, a hot dog cookout and much more.

After this meeting we should know the dates for our school roundup sessions which will also determine our scout year start dates.  We expect to begin den meetings in early to mid-September and will be planning to have a returning parents meeting and kick-off event for the scouts prior to this.  We will post more information on the website and in the newsletter once we have details!

Book/Supply Collection

As a community service project this year, we would like to have our scouts collect items to donate as a pack to Sun Valley Elementary and Shiloh Schools.  SVE has requested new & gently used books.  Shiloh is requesting Scissors, Crayons, Glue sticks, Markers, Colored pencils, Tissues, Hand sanitizer, Baby wipes, and/or Ziploc bags. Start collecting now – we’ll have drop off details soon!  J
