Orientation/Returning Parents Meeting

Our Orientation/Returning Parents meeting is this Tuesday, August 26th at 7pm at Christ Community Church.  All new and returning scouts and parents need to attend this important kick-off meeting.  There have been changes to our meeting time, dues and activity fee which will be reviewed at this meeting.

We would like to ask all our returning scouts to bring some of their favorite scout memorabilia to share with everyone.  Similar to how we set up the collection tables last year, we thought it would be a great way for you to share with some of those interested in joining our pack some of your favorite experiences.  We will have about a 15 minute display time before heading into the rest of our meeting and will ask you to either keep the items with you at the Parents meeting or put them in your car so your son’s treasures stay protected!  We’re not looking for you to stay up all night making diagrams or anything – just maybe some photos, awards, your derby car, patches, belt loops, etc.

We have also been limited to 60 scouts for our facility, therefore, it is extremely important that if you are planning to remain active with our pack yet cannot attend this meeting you notify Anthony Irwin at cubmaster@pack97scouts.com prior to the meeting so we can include you in our total.  An activity will be planned to entertain scouts during the parents meeting.

Carowinds Camping

Information for the Carowinds Camping Event has been released!  Attached to this newsletter is a copy of the flyer we received at the District Kick-off Meeting last week.  We will also have several flyers available at Tuesday’s meeting.  Since this is still part of the summer program – it is not included in your Registration Fee or Dues for the upcoming year.  Tickets should be ordered/reserved on an individual basis directly through the following website link: www.carowinds.com/boyscouts

Unfortunately, most of our scouts do not qualify for the “Behind the Scenes” and Ferris Wheel building.  They did tell us there should be a belt loop or other activity available during that time for the tigers, wolves and bears.  The camping area will be set up in the grassy area to the left of the main entrance.  If you attend Friday evening – you will not have to pay for parking.  Those only coming up Saturday will be required to pay parking.  Please let us know if you do register so we can coordinate the pack together.

Book/Supply Collection

As a community service project this year, we would like to have our scouts collect items to donate as a pack to Sun Valley Elementary and Shiloh Schools.  SVE has requested new & gently used books.  Shiloh is requesting Scissors, Crayons, Glue sticks, Markers, Colored pencils, Tissues, Hand sanitizer, Baby wipes, and/or Ziploc bags. Start collecting now – we’ll have drop off details soon!  J
