Popcorn Sales Information

Have you sold any popcorn?  Please help support our pack and all the great activities we planned for the year by doing your part.  Sales go through November 10th.  Brannen passed out popcorn information packets on the 30th; please see him if you need a sales package.

Thank you to all who participated this past weekend at the Monroe Harris Teeter.  October 18th-19th we will be selling in front of the Bi-Lo in Indian Trail.  All scouts are expected to participate in at least one of the group sales events and need to sign up for a time slot.  If you cannot attend either weekend, please see Anthony Irwin or Brannen as soon as possible. If you have any popcorn questions, please send them to:  popcorn@pack97scouts.com

Gold Rush

Whether it’s your first or 4th trip to Gold Rush, the boys love this event!  They spend most of the day running back and forth looking for gold nuggets in the field to spend at any of about 60-100 game booths giving candy as prizes.  Oh, yeah – they also get a chance to earn belt loops for shooting BB-Guns and Arrows and they get a chance to take a canoe out on the lake.  As fun as the event itself is, however, there are a few things we the adults need to prepare for.  This event is open to EVERY Cub Scout in our District – which is several counties and typically thousands of people.  Therefore, it gets quite crowded and trying to find the group and get your gear to the campsite is its own hurdle.  We never know where our actual site is until the first member of our party gets there.  We also have no control over which area they place us in and the last 2 times we were there it was the farthest site from everything.  They are very strict about vehicles going past a certain point and only until 7pm and most of us have had to hoof in all our gear on several trips back and forth about half a mile. So – be prepared that getting there and getting set up will likely not be fun.  Once you’re set up, though – it will be lots of fun J

As I mentioned, there are several game booths – guess where these come from?  Us!  We will have about 3-5 games which will need to be staffed throughout the day.  You will each need to sign up and/or work a shift throughout the day.  I also mentioned the rewards were candy – so guess what else we need you to bring… you guessed it!  Everyone needs to bring in a bag of candy to throw into the reward bucket; preferably candy that won’t melt while sitting in the sun all day.

If anyone would also like to volunteer to make gold – please let me know and I’ll fill you in on the tricks we’ve learned.  We need to have several buckets to contribute to the gold field.

For this event, there are both Council fees to attend and pack fees for meals:

Scouts:                            Fees are covered by the pack

Adults/Siblings Camping:  $2 each

Adults/Children over 5:     $10 for meals

Children 2-5:                     $5 for meals

Please Note: Even if you are only coming out for the day on Saturday, the meal fee will still apply.

We must pre-register as a Pack by the 17th, so you only have this week left to sign up.

Let us know if you have any questions!
