Popcorn Sales Information
Have you sold popcorn? Please help support our pack and all the great activities we planned for the year by doing your part. Sales go through November 10th. Brannen passed out popcorn information packets on the 30th; please see him if you need a sales package.
Thank you to all who participated this past weekend at the Bi-Lo. All scouts are expected to participate in at least one of the group sales events. We may have a few more opportunities in the next few weeks if you were not yet able to help at one of the group sales events. We hope to have more details this week. In the mean time, if you have any popcorn questions, please send them to: popcorn@pack97scouts.com.
Gold Rush
Thank you to everyone who signed up for Gold Rush, we’ve got a group of 32 scouts registered! Below are some important reminders:
- Check in begins at 3:30pm on Friday. Please do not plan to arrive before then.
- We have been assigned a camping area; we are in area 7 (Click here for Camp Barnhardt Map: http://www.pack97scouts.com/Events/Barnhardt_map.pdf ) which is all the way at the farthest end of the field – and where we were last year for you returners. Hence, the bring your patience warnings J
- We have wristbands for every scout, sibling and adult with your name on them that MUST be worn throughout the day. These will be handed out at Tuesday night’s meeting. If for some reason you are not able to make it this week to the den meeting – we will bring your wristband with us – you will need to get them from us at the campsite.
- We have 4 vehicle passes we can swap out until 7 pm Friday for driving to the campsite. If you arrive after 7pm you will NOT be allowed to drive to the sites. You can also only arrive up until 9pm. We hope to have some sort of “greeters” at the parking zone if you let us know you are arriving between 7pm & 9pm to help guide you to the site and transport your gear. The pack and a few of the leaders each own & bring lawn carts, wagons for hauling gear. If you have one you can bring, we highly recommend it.
- No open toed shoes are allowed! Be sure and wear COMFORTABLE shoes – you will be doing a lot of walking!
- Mugs – in order to keep down on the trash and waste that accumulates from cups used during a campout – we ask that everyone try to bring their own reusable cup/coffee mug/etc to use throughout the weekend. It will also make it easier to remember which drink is yours!
- Candy – we have had a few people bring their candy in already – we need a lot more! If you have not yet brought in candy – please bring it into the den meeting Tuesday night so we know how much extra we need to purchase.
- Gold – I had about 4 or 5 people volunteer to make gold. Please remember to bring this with you or let me know that you are still making it and will have it there this weekend!
- It’s calling for rain on Friday right now – we’ll still be camping J This is a rain or shine event. Bring your ponchos!

Food Drive
As one way to reach out to the community and to give back to our Charter Organization, we conduct a food drive each fall on their behalf and donate it along with them to an organization they select. We will be collecting food this year for the Second Harvest Food Bank. While we are still working out the final schedule for the day; we have selected November 8th as the day to conduct the Food Drive. On the calendar, you may have noticed November 1st was to be the bag drop off day and November 8th the pick-up date. We have decided to change our collection procedures a bit this year, however. We are now planning to do door to door collections so the boys are move involved with the true meaning of the collection than simply driving through the neighborhood looking for bags. We plan to meet at the church, divide into groups and then split into the surrounding neighborhoods. We should have a final schedule to announce next week
Bass Pro Shops/Outdoor Games
Hard to believe since we haven’t even completed Gold Rush yet – but it is already time to begin the registration process for the Bass Pro Shop Outdoor Games to be held at Camp Barnhardt November 14-16th. We must also register for this event as a pack and your last chance to sign up will be the den meeting on November 3rd. Outdoor games works a little differently. There are several “Action Centers” (see the flyer link below) but the scouts are all assigned rotations. We are not given a mores descriptive schedule or map until the Leaders Meeting on the 14th.
Council Fees are also a little different:
Scouts: $12 – covered by the pack
Leaders: $5 to attend meeting and receive patch
Siblings/Adults: $1 for anyone camping, No charge for day only
Pack Meal Fees remain the same: $10 for adults, $5 for children 2-5, Children under 2 at no charge
Please sign up on the sheet in the back area by November 3rd if you would like to attend.
