November Dues

Just a reminder that the first of 6 dues payment is now due.  These are $10 per month and due at the first den meeting of the month.  Please see Amy after the parent information portion of Tuesday’s den Meeting with your payment.

Food Drive

As one way to reach out to the community and to give back to our Charter Organization, we conduct a food drive each fall on their behalf and donate it along with them to an organization they select.  We will be collecting food THIS SATURDAY November 8th for the Second Harvest Food Bank.  ALL SCOUTS ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICPATE IN THIS EVENT.  Plan to have the scouts in full uniform and to meet at the church at noon. We will then divide everyone into groups and venture into the surrounding neighborhoods.  Everyone should return to the church at 3pm.  We will then caravan to Second Harvest to present the collection and have a treat planned for afterward!

Popcorn Sales Information

Just a reminder, this Saturday (November 8th) from 9am-noon is the last opportunity to pick up your popcorn.  Very few people attended the first pick up this past weekend.  Hopefully, you are all planning to combine your pick-up with the Food Drive this coming weekend!

We do still have one group sales event at the Sun Valley Craft Fair on this same day, November 8th from 8am-12pm.  All scouts are expected to participate in at least one of the group sales events. If you were unable to participate in either the Harris Teeter or Bi-Lo sales; please sign up to work during this event.  Remember, for each time slot you work – you do receive an extra entry into the pack popcorn drawing – so even if you already worked – working again will gain you another entry.

Other notes from Brannen, the Popcorn Chairman!

w        Each Scout and Parent needs to pick a prize they qualify for on the sales and let me know at THIS TUESDAY's meeting (or before).  If I do not receive their choice at this Tuesday's meeting (or before), they WILL NOT RECEIVE THEIR PRIZE.

Bass Pro Shops/Outdoor Games

We must also register for this event as a pack and your last chance to sign up will be this week’s den meeting on November 4th.  (In previous newsletters – I had listed the 3rd as the date by accident – sorry for any inconvenience). Outdoor games works a little differently.  There are several “Action Centers” (see the flyer link below) but the scouts are all assigned rotations.  We are not given a mores descriptive schedule or map until the Leaders Meeting on the 14th

Council Fees are also a little different:

Scouts:             $12 – covered by the pack

Leaders:            $5 to attend meeting and receive patch

Siblings/Adults: $1 for anyone camping, No charge for day only

Pack Meal Fees remain the same: $10 for adults, $5 for children 2-5, Children under 2 at no charge

Please sign up on the sheet in the back area by November 3rd if you would like to attend.

Camp Barnhardt Address/Directions:  http://www.pack97scouts.com/Events/Barnhardt_Directions.pdf

Below are some important reminders:

  1. No open toed shoes are allowed!  Be sure and wear COMFORTABLE shoes – you will be doing a lot of walking!

  2. Mugs – in order to keep down on the trash and waste that accumulates from cups used during a campout – we ask that everyone try to bring their own reusable cup/coffee mug/etc to use throughout the weekend.  It will also make it easier to remember which drink is yours!

Veteran’s Day Celebration

If anyone is interested, an air show event is scheduled in Monroe on Saturday and Sunday November 8 and 9th to celebrate Veteran’s Day.  Gates open at 9:30 AM, there are performers at Noon and the Tora!Tora!Tora! main event Air Show is at 4PM.  Admission is $5.00 for Adults; Veterans and students Free!!  For additional information, please visit  www.warriorsandwarbirds.com

Veterans Day - Den Meeting Change

Our November 11th den meetings will be replaced with a Flag Retirement Ceremony to be held at the VFW in Indian Trail. All scouts are expected to attend, no exceptions.  Plan to meet there at 6:45 in full Uniform.

Indian Trail Christmas Parade

Our parade committee is busy at work preparing for the Indian Trail Christmas Parade to be held on Sunday November 30th.  Mark your calendars now!  The parade starts at 2pm and the line-up will form at First Citizens Bank and Post Office Drive in Indian Trail.  There are still a few items they are hoping to find via donations (battery operated lights are most on the wish list).  Please see Adrienne or Karen or if you have items (or time to wrap presents during the den meeting on the 18th) and they can fill you in on further details.  We will be posting a sign up sheet in the next few weeks for those scouts and parents who will be able to attend.

T-Shirts/Sweatshirts

Though most who ordered shirts picked them up prior to Gold Rush – we still have a few of the ordered shirts and sweatshirts available for pick up.  Please see Amy after the parent information portion of the den meeting to pick these up.
