The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97

July 20, 2009

THIS IS THE LAST WEEK TO SIGN UP FOR THE MONSTER TRUCK EVENT IN AUGUST.

Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in attending or have questions about the Monster Truck Dirt Track at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Scouts Sleep Over.
All registration money for the Monster Truck event must be in to me by no later than this Friday, July 24th (please see mailing address and pricing below).

LOCATION FOR THE LEADERS RETREAT HAS CHANGED.
We will now be meeting at Jackie Lance’s house for the planning retreat (Cornerstone Neighborhood -
3018 Trellis Lane, Monroe, NC 28110).  Thank you Jackie!! This will allow for internet access while planning and we can either bring a lunch or take our lunch breaks at homeWe still will meet that morning at 10am to discuss protocol, bylaws and the major events for the entire 2009-2010 calendar year.  Finish time TBD.  If you would like to ask questions, share thoughts, offer suggestions, voice opinions or learn more about Pack 97 and future activities, this would be the perfect opportunity to do so.  If you have not done so already and are interested in volunteering, being a den leader or part of the planning committee, please respond if you will or will not be attending the Leaders Retreat on Saturday, July 25th.

SURVEYS

As you may have already seen, our first Pack 97 survey went out via email this morning.  Thank you so very much to those who have already responded.  Please keep them coming!!  Our wish would be to receive one survey from each scout family who participated last year.  All of the surveys received by this Friday will be reviewed and considered for planning the 2009-2010 scout year. If you did not receive the email, had trouble opening or forwarding the document, please contact Amy.  amy@pack97scouts.com

CPCC TRAINING FOR LEADERS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Future and returning Den Leaders and Committee Members  - please mark your calendars!  CPCC Levine Campus in Matthews will be hosting their annual all day “Scouter Success Seminar” on Saturday, September 26th, 2009.  This is a wonderful opportunity for those who might be interested in advancing their scouting knowledge and leadership skills PLUS, it is loads of fun.  More information will be available at the Leaders Retreat this Saturday.  You may also visit the website www.mcctraining.org.  Otherwise, please contact Anthony Irwin or Karen French for questions or more information.
Please note:  Youth Protection Training certification is only good for 2 years. It is mandatory for all adult leaders and committee members to have this certification current before the scouting year begins.

LEADERSHIP POSITIONS ARE AVAILABLE – WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Several of our leaders from this past year will be moving up a rank along with their sons for the coming year.  Some of our leaders have also regrettably had to withdraw from positions for the next year….so, please consider donating your time and participating more fully in the pack by volunteering for either a leadership or committee position in the coming year.  Either email or call Anthony Irwin, Karen or Amy with any questions
