The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97

September 14, 2009

HEALTH FORMS, BYLAW PAGES & CODE OF CONDUCT
These forms MUST, MUST, MUST be submitted this week.  Your scout CANNOT attend camping OR any further den meetings until they are turned in.  I will be sending a separate set of emails based on what forms I still need returned from you.  Though they were included in the yellow folders handed out at the end of the Parent Orientation meeting; here are links to the forms in case you have misplaced them.   Health Form   Code of Conduct   ByLaw Page

***The Health Form does not need to be completed by a physician; we are mainly concerned with any allergies, health restrictions and emergency contact information.

T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS

Though not quite done yet today; they have assured me they will be ready for pick up and distribution tomorrow!  If you have not already submitted payment; please plan to pay for these as you pick them up.

HEALTH FORMS, BYLAW PAGES & CODE OF CONDUCT
These forms were included in the yellow folders handed out at the end of the Parent Orientation meeting.  Please be sure and have these completed and ready to turn in by the end of this Tuesday’s den meeting.  If you did not receive a yellow folder, we will have them available from the kitchen area.  It is extremely important we receive ALL 3 forms back by this week.  Your scout CANNOT attend the camping trip unless these forms are on file.  The Health Form does not need to be completed by a physician; we are mainly concerned with any allergies, health restrictions and emergency contact information.

SLEEPING WITH THE COWS & BOAT REGATTA

This WEEKEND!!!   Saturday, September 19th & Sunday, September 20th

For this first camping event, we are “officially planning” just an overnighter and keeping it close to home so we can help our new campers ease in!  Therefore, we will not be cooking dinner on Friday night or breakfast Saturday morning; so if you plan to camp Friday you are more than welcome to; though please plan for these meals on your own.

Registration and Payments are due this week

CAMPING INFO

The site details/directions are as follows:

The Optimist Club

1974 Skyway Dr

Monroe of the Shell Gas Station.

Essentially, it is at the intersection of 601 and 74.  Go one block to the shell station and turn onto the gravel farm road into the woods, literally right next door to the Shell Station.

There are bathrooms and running water, though not what we would consider “useable” showers – so plan on roughing it without the showers. J There is also a small lake/large pond available for fishing during the free time in the afternoon or on Sunday.

Here is a google link:

REGATTA INFO

Boats are being distributed as we receive your Pack Fee Installment.  Rules and regulations are available from here: Rules/Regulations sheet or will be available from the kitchen area at the den meeting.  Please keep in mind, even though this is a competitive event which will include the awarding of trophies; our scouts should always remember to simply “Do their Best”!  Enjoy crafting these boats together and make sure the emphasis is on having FUN!

Would you or a sibling like to also create a boat for the “Friends & Family Race ”?  We will have extra boats available for purchase in the kitchen area at a cost of $4 each.
