Patches

Just a note that patches your son receives for participating in events ARE NOT sewn onto their uniforms.  Only rank badges (once earned) and special BSA awards (once earned) are to be sewn onto the uniforms.  You have a few options for displaying patches earned for event participation.  The scout store sells both red blankets and red vests that can be used to display these.  Most of our older scouts have red sashes which used to be available for purchase (I also made them as Christmas Gifts 2 years ago) that you might be able to find or I can help you with. There are also clear emblem holders (available from the scout store in various shapes) which attach to the pocket of the uniform and allow the scout to display either their favorite patch or most recently earned event patch.  Please let us know if you have any additional questions on patches.

T-Shirts/Sweatshirts

We have a few remaining shirts and sweatshirts after our recent order.  If you are interested in any of the following – please let Amy know as soon as possible.

3 Youth Large T-Shirts

3 Youth Medium T-Shirts

1 Youth Small T-Shirt

1 Adult Small T-Shirt

2 Youth Small Sweatshirts

1 Adult Medium Sweatshirt

I have already received a few requests for items that do not match these sizes which individuals did not place orders for prior to our deadline.  In order to place new orders; we need a minimum of 12 new items.  I will go ahead and start a sign up sheet, however, please note the items will not be ordered until we reach 12.

Popcorn Sales Start this Week!!!!

October 1

This week’s parent meeting will mostly be dedicated to Popcorn Sales!  Karen will have order forms, pack goals, prize information, pick up and delivery dates and much, much more!   We are a very active pack and have a lot of fun activities planned for the rest of the year; however, these activities and our budget depend on a certain amount of fundraising to make it happen.  Please plan to participate in any way you can!

18th Century Trade Fair @ Fort Dobbs State Historic Site – (non pack event)

Saturday and Sunday October 3rd-4th
Though we are not attending this as a pack event; we came across the information in planning our scout year and thought some of you might be interested in attending.  The lives of many civilians on the Carolina frontier were disrupted by the French and Indian War. Join more than 100 soldiers, Native Americans and civilians in colonial dress as they set up camps near Fort Dobbs. Visitors can experience a snapshot of life on the edge of the British Empire in the 1750's. The event will feature a re-created Cherokee attack and scholarly lectures, as well as on-going demonstrations of 18th Century camp life and trades.  For additional information, please visit their website at: http://www.fortdobbs.org/events.htm

Leader Meeting

Wednesday, October 7th at 7pm

There will a Leader meeting next Wednesday October 7th at 7pm at Christ Community Church.  Any leader who will not be able to attend needs to contact Anthony Irwin.

Indian Trail Family Fun Day

Saturday, October 10, 2009

In order to help offset some of our popcorn fundraising goal; we will also be selling drinks & snacks at the Indian Trail Family Fun Day.  This event reportedly had over 3,000 visitors last year!  In addition to drinks and snacks we also plan to have a small game set up to attract visitors!  We will need at least 2 teams (1 parent and 1 scout each – in uniform) to assist with this booth throughout the day.  Karen will have a sign up sheet (broken into hour long shifts) and additional details available at the den meeting.  We realize this will conflict for any Tiger Scouts attending the Tiger Cub Field Day; though really would like to see as many other scouts as possible participate.  Scouts will receive a special bead for their participation.

Tiger Cub Field Day (non pack event)

Saturday, October 10, 2009

9:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M. @ Camp John J. Barnhardt

Since this activity is only open to Tiger Scouts; it is not a pack event and you may choose whether to register and attend.   It is a great opportunity for the younger scouts to get a chance to earn their BB and Archery Belt Loops without having to compete with the hundreds of other scouts usually at Camp Barnhardt events.

Deadline for pre-registration is Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 and the Cost is $15 per Tiger Cub (Late Fee $5)

($15 includes lunch for 1 Tiger Cub & 1 adult, 1 patch & program)

If you did not receive a flyer in the mail from council; please click the following link to take you to their registration form.
