The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97

October 19, 2009

Pack Event This Week

Unfortunately, the CMPD Bomb Squad who was to lead our pack event this week called and they have a scheduling problem which prevents them from being able to attend. However, having the prepared Cubmaster that we do, last week he contacted the Union county SRT team and they will be leading our Pack Event this week with a vehicle, fingerprinting and SRT Team, and possible CSI for fingerprinting and shoe prints!  In the event another conflict occurs; I’m positive Anthony will have a plan C!

Leadership Updates

Now that we are several weeks into the program; we hope that you have all gotten a feel for the pack.  Most of our dens are busting at the seams and could really use additional assistance in either the form of new leaders to split dens or for assistant leaders in most dens.  Additionally, Karen (our Committee Chairman) is taking a leave of absence at this time due to some family commitments and Ron (our Assistant Cubmaster) will be rotating in and out as his job is pulling him out of town for quite a few of our meetings and planned activities.  Therefore, please let Amy or Anthony know if you would be willing to assist in any leadership or committee position.

Registration for Camping at Anne Springs

This is the last meeting to sign up for our Camping trip this weekend.  All payments also need to be made this week; please make it a priority to see Amy before you leave tonight if you plan to attend.

Just a quick reminder that we have 43 scouts who should be earning their Bobcat at the Pack Meeting this Saturday night and this is the only ceremony that will be held to present these awards.  As this is the first item your son will earn that can be sewn onto his uniform; it is something to celebrate.  Please plan to join us so we can recognize your scout!

Camping at Anne Springs Close Greenway & Pack Meeting

Friday, October 23rd – Sunday, October 25th

Our next camping trip for Anne Springs Close Greenway in Ft Mill, SC is this weekend!  Please remember to bring a bag of candy for the games and a compass if you have one.  Due to the size of our group; we are not camping in the actual campsites but will be located in the area between the horse ring and the entrance as indicated in the attached flyer/map.  We will have access to both a bathhouse (There are 4 restrooms, a sink area on the back of the bathhouse and 2 showers with hot & cold water) and Pavilion.  Additional information for Anne Springs can be found on their website at http://www.leroysprings.com/default.asp?lsc=218

Popcorn Sales

Throughout October

How is your sale going?  Great ideas for teacher gifts for Christmas!  I know there is a lot of fundraising going on this time of year; please try your best to sell as much as popcorn as you can so that we can keep all the planned events on our calendar!  If you did not receive popcorn information or have any questions on the popcorn sale; please see Amy.  Our goal is for each scout to sell at least $200 worth of popcorn to complete our scout year as planned.  There are 2 dates for popcorn pickup; during our den meeting on Tuesday, November 3rd or on Saturday, November 7th prior to our Food Drive.  We should have more details regarding the Food Drive and this pick up soon.
