The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97We hope everyone who was able to attend our camping trip, Pack Meeting and Bobcat Ceremony this weekend had a great time! Though we did have rain; the facility was well set up and we managed to still complete most activities as scheduled. If your son earned his Bobcat badge though you were not able to attend; he should receive it from his den leader this week or during our opening flag ceremony. A HUGE thanks also to all the wonderful parents and scouts who helped in the kitchen all weekend; it was truly a team effort and we couldn’t have done it without all your help! Beads The beads are for immediate recognition for the scouts. It is VERY important they wear them to all pack and den activities in order to receive the recognition they have earned. The scouts feel bad when others around them are getting the beads and they do not because they don’t have their fobs. Please be sure to have them wear them for all activities and meetings. Since most scouts did not have their bead fobs on throughout the camping trip; I attempted to get everyone worked in by the end of the Pack Meeting (without delaying the meeting) yet was unable to finish everyone. Anyone who did receive their beads Saturday but then camped on Saturday night should also still receive an additional bead. Please mark your son’s name on the back of their bead fob (if not already done) and either bring it to me during the den meeting or I will try to make it to each den to catch everyone up. Popcorn Sales How is your sale going? Great ideas for teacher gifts for Christmas! I know there is a lot of fundraising going on this time of year; please try your best to sell as much as popcorn as you can so that we can keep all the planned events on our calendar! If you did not receive popcorn information or have any questions on the popcorn sale; please see Amy Individual Sales Goal: $200 per scout.
Popcorn distribution will be held from 9-11am in the Shiloh Parking Lot. Council Prizes: Trails End prizes (as shown on the pages that come with the order form) Choose from the selection based on the total amount sold. Fill it Up! (fill up one entire order form - 25 orders) - receive a Bow & Mallow (Marshmallow shooter) & a “Fill it Up” patch/certificate. Please bring a copy of the completed sheet with you that we can submit to council or you will have to leave your order form with us for the week. Pack Prizes: Top seller of the PACK - receives a $10.00 Wal-Mart gift card, plus one raffle ticket (from Pack) Top seller in each RANK (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) - receives a $10.00 Wal-Mart gift card (from Pack) As one way to reach out to the community, we conduct a food drive each fall. This year our We have selected 4 neighborhoods to target (Brandon Oaks, Taylor Glen, Shiloh Trace and Cornerstone) and will have sign up sheets out this week. We have found that the scouts receive the most meaning from this community service project when they go door to door asking for donations as opposed to simply distributing bags to be put out for pick-up. Plan to have the scouts in full uniform and to meet at the SHILOH PARKING LOT at 11am. ( Veteran’s Day Ceremony Our den meeting on Tuesday will be cancelled and replaced with our participation in the Veteran’s Day Ceremony at the Indian Trail VFW. The scouts will be cutting up old flags in the coming weeks and should be able to participate in the retiring ceremony. Prior to their ceremony; we will also be having a dedication for the picnic area our Pack created at the VFW over the summer. Anthony will be confirming the timing this week and we’ll have it for you in next week’s newsletter. Cub Scout Advancement Day Though this is not a Pack Scheduled event; we highly recommend it for all our scouts! It will be an opportunity for them to earn several badges and requirements specific to their den. Additional information and a registration sheet can be found through the following link. http://www.centralnccouncilbsa.com/CS%20Advancement%20Day%2011-14-09.pdf Please send all forms and payment directly to the Council office. Indian Trail Christmas Parade The Indian Trail Christmas Parade is scheduled for 2pm on Sunday, November 29th- Rain or Shine.
