Food Drive

As one way to reach out to the community, we conduct a food drive each fall.  This year our Food Drive is scheduled for November 7thALL SCOUTS ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICPATE IN THIS EVENT.  If, however, you are not able to join us on this date – please select another date prior to the 7th to collect food with your son and bring it to our den meeting on November 3rd.  (Several of the ranks also require a community service project in order to complete badge requirements.)

We have selected 4 neighborhoods to target (Brandon Oaks, Brook Valley (which replaces Taylor Glen after several requests for Brook Valley and no-one signing up for Taylor Glen), Shiloh Trace and Cornerstone) and will have sign up sheets out this week.  We have found that the scouts receive the most meaning from this community service project when they go door to door asking for donations as opposed to simply distributing bags to be put out for pick-up.  Plan to have the scouts in full uniform and to meet at the SHILOH PARKING LOT at 11am. (Christ Community Church will be hosting a yard sale at the church on this same date). We will then divide everyone into groups and venture into the selected neighborhoods.  Everyone should return to the church at 2:30pm.  We will then caravan to present the food collection and have a treat planned for afterward!

Committee Meeting

Since our regular den meetings are moved from next Tuesday, the 10th – I thought it would be a perfect time to schedule a committee meeting.  We will be discussing among other things – our upcoming camping trip and menu; the Christmas Party, Christmas Presents and Christmas Parade.  Please plan to join us if you have any interest in participating in the planning and execution of these events and more!

Veteran’s Day Ceremony

Our den meeting on Tuesday will be replaced with our participation in the Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Wednesday at the Indian Trail VFW.  The scouts will be cutting up old flags in the coming weeks and should be able to participate in the retiring ceremony.  Prior to their ceremony; we will also be having a dedication for the picnic area our Pack created at the VFW over the summer.  All scouts should arrive in FULL UNIFORM by 6:30pm for our picnic dedication. At 7:00pm the Veteran’s Ceremony will begin.

Cub Scout Advancement Day

Though this is not a Pack Scheduled event; we highly recommend it for all our scouts!  It will be an opportunity for them to earn several badges and requirements specific to their den.  Additional information and a registration sheet can be found through the following link.  http://www.centralnccouncilbsa.com/CS%20Advancement%20Day%2011-14-09.pdf Please send all forms and payment directly to the Council office.

Indian Trail Christmas Parade

The Indian Trail Christmas Parade is scheduled for 2pm on Sunday, November 29th- Rain or Shine.  Anthony has already obtained confirmation for a trailer that can be used for our float.  However, we need a FLOAT COMMITTEE CHAIR to make this happen.  If you would like to volunteer for this position – please see Amy or Anthony as soon as possible.

Camping at Belk Scout Camp

Mark your calendar now – our next camping trip will be November 20-22 at Belk Scout Camp.  With our unusual schedule for Veteran’s Day it only leaves us this den meeting and the one on the 17th for registration and payment.  We should have more information available for the next newsletter in terms of the agenda – below are links to the camp website, a camp map and directions.
