The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97

November 16 , 2009

Pack Visitor

This week our Pack Visit is from the Stallings Fire Department.  They will be doing an indoor presentation for the scouts before allowing them to go outside and tour the Fire Truck.  During their presentation; all parents need to meet in the sanctuary to review important information for the next few weeks and to complete registration for both camping trips.

Awards Earned

All leaders (and parents if you have been working on them at home) need to submit a list of belt loops and awards earned to Anthony Irwin Tuesday night in order for them to be included in the Pack Ceremony this month.

Popcorn Wrap Up

Thank you so much to everyone for your AWESOME sales this year!  We still have some accounts to collect; however, we have commitments for just over $12,000!  Anyone who still has receipts due, please submit these as soon as possible.  Just a reminder that any item marked on your receipt as a Backorder will be distributed at the den meeting on December 8th.  We will have a few additional products available in everything except the Trail Mix and Carmel Corn Light.  If you are interested in any additional items; please see Amy.

Indian Trail Christmas Parade

The Indian Trail Christmas Parade is scheduled for 2pm on Sunday, November 29th- Rain or Shine.  Anthony has already obtained confirmation for a trailer that can be used for our float and Kim Irwin has volunteered to Chair this committee.  Thank you, Kim!!!  The float will be stored and created in Kim and Anthony’s garage. Additional details will be available during the parent portion of our den meeting this week.  We will also have a sign up sheet for those planning to participate in the parade.

Camping at Belk Scout Camp

Our next camping trip is this weekend (November 20-22) at Belk Scout Camp.  Tuesday is your last chance to register and pay for this event.  If you are unable to attend the den meeting on Tuesday, yet plan to camp – you must email me by Tuesday evening so we can finish planning and purchasing our menu.  Scouts are covered by the pack; other fees will be noted on the sign up sheet.  Below are links to the camp website, a camp map and directions.

IMPORTANT SCOUT CAMP INFORMATION

For those of you who have camped with us so far this year, but have yet to camp at one of the official Scout Camps; we need to warn you that it is a very, very different set-up and procedure than you are used to.  For the Belk Campout; even though it is not a council event – there are very strict rules regarding parking and hauling gear.  You may or may not be able to drive to the general area we will be camping in.  If you are able to drive to the area; it will only be for a few minutes to unload your gear and you will then be required to park in the designated parking areas.  Do not be surprised; these are never close to the campsites.  Depending on when you arrive; you may also NOT be allowed to drive any further than the parking lots.  Friday night, they do request that everyone arrive by 8pm so as to not disturb the other campers.  (We do not know how many other campers there might be at this time; or if we are going to be the only ones using the facility).  Pack light and be prepared to haul your gear a long way.

If you refer to the Camp Map below; we are located in Camp Sites 8 and 9 and will have the Catawba Shelter to use.
