The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97

Summer Pack Schedule

To qualify for the summer activity award and to keep us all engaged in scouting; we do plan 2 “official” activities per month over the summer for the Pack.  There will also be a listing below of “Other Summer Activities” that are either scout related and/or were brought to our attention but that didn’t make our schedule this year.

Because the Summer Program is not planned for in our regular scout year; fees will be due for all scouts for participation in each activity, as well.

Some of the events we must pre-register and pay for prior to the event.  Therefore, if you sign up for an event – you will be responsible for full payment that is made on your behalf whether you are able to attend the event or not.   Each activity listed will include payment and registration guidelines.  Please email me the required information if you would like to participate.

Night with the Knights

When:  Friday, June 11th at 7:15pm

Price:  3 Options Available, see below

DeadlineYou must email your ticket choices and quantity to AMY no later than this Friday, May 28th at 8am!!!

Payment:  I will pre-pay; you will need to pay me at the game

We have participated in this event for the last several years.  It is a chance to watch the game and then spend the night camping in the outfield (unless it rains).  You do NOT have to camp; you can just purchase a ticket for the game.  If you do camp – you cannot stake your tent into the grass.  You obviously do not get to set up your tent until after the game is finished – which can be after 10 or 11pm.  FYI on the camping part….. You will be camping with several other scouts in a very small space, after a hot game, and everyone will be tired – but loud.  I’m not saying I wouldn’t camp if that’s something you want to do – but those of us who have camped before – won’t be doing it again.

Here are the ticket options – I need you to email me the quantity of each package that you would like.

Triple Crown Package
Game Ticket + Campout + T-Shirt = $19/person

MVP Package
Game Ticket + Campout = $11/person

Pinch Hitter
Game Ticket = $7/person

You can mix and match.  So if you have a family of 4 that all wants to go to the game; but only 2 of you want to camp and one of those 2 camping wants a t-shirt – you would email me that you need 2 Pinch Hitters, 1 MVP and 1 Triple Crown.   Hopefully that’s clear – but if not – give me an email or call with questions.  Remember that any changes you make after the deadline (MAY 28th)– you will still be responsible for paying for.

Carowinds

When:  Saturday, June 26th  at 9:30am

Price:   Depends on Total attending

Deadline:  June 11th

Payment:  Depends on Total attending

Who’s ready for some rides and fun in the water!  The price of attending Carowinds can be daunting.  However, if we are able to get a group of at least 15 people who are 48” or taller; we will receive a huge discount off the tickets.

The gate price of tickets is:        $49.99

The online price of tickets is      $39.99

Our Group price (15+) is:         $29.99

For those who will be attending who are under 48”

Gate or online price is:  $22.99

Group price is:                          $21.99

Unfortunately, the under 48” tickets do not count toward our total of 15 tickets.  Also, if you have season passes – these would not count toward our total either.

If I do receive enough requests to qualify us for the group rate by June 11th – I will book the tickets and you will need to pay me the day of the event.

If I do not receive enough requests to qualify us for the group rate – I will let you know and you should book the tickets online on your own to receive the best rate.

Roundup & Parents Meeting

The Roundup date is determined by council.  Roundup is the day where the District and/or Council Members for the BSA go into the schools and make a presentation to all the boys and parents interested in learning more about scouting and/or joining a pack.  We will not know the date until sometimes the day before it happens – though will let you all know as soon as we have a date confirmed.  Typically, the week after the Roundup at Shiloh is the week we hold our Parent Information meeting to meet new families, go over any new policies, review the new calendar and recruit volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.  Based on the last 2 years – I would anticipate the Roundup occurring either August 17th, 24th or 31st.
