The Weekly Newsletter of Cub Scout Pack 97Yorktown Trip InfoHere is an outline of the events pertaining to the USS Yorktown. 02-14-2012 - Payment due for any overnighters (scouts are free). Head count for group activities. I will try and meet/email/call with every family to gather totals for this outing to ensure we can include those attending activities. 04-01-2012 - Payment for day trippers wishing to get a group rate and Guarantee a spot on the boat. 04-27-2012- Shiloh has classes, but Sun Valley and Porter Ridge don’t (That’s right Hope I checked for you as well). Report to Patriot Point at 7pm. 8pm movie in Ships Theater. 04-28-2012- 7am Reveille, breakfast time is between then and 830am when we are to board the ferry for Fort Sumter (if we are in fact going we won’t know more until closer to event time). If we are on the Fort tour we will return at 10:30 and then we have all day to explore the boat and also take merit badge classes. (Not sure when lunch given). The park closes to those day trippers at 06:30pm. Dinners start at 5:30pm and after that some videos and programs until 9:00 when there is another movie in the theater. 04-29-2012- 6am Reveille followed by breakfast until about 8 then off the ship by 9am. This is a list of items you need to know. <!-· Anyone not on the ship by 8pm (4-27-2012) and or misses the MANDATORY fire drill will not be able to stay on the ship. Just look at the cruise ship off the coast of Italy and that should show you the importance of knowing the exits and emergency procedures. <!-· We will need to arrive as a group. <!-· No food is allowed on-board the ship. <!-· $5 parking fee assessed per vehicle. You are allowed to get on and off the ship and only have to pay the onetime fee. <!-· You are required to bring all sleeping items; pillow, blanket, sleeping bag, toiletries and such. <!-· It is required that all scouts have a parent staying on-board the boat but it does not have to be gender specific. If you are a female taking your scout you are allowed as long as we have a signed permission that a male is “in charge” while we are sleeping. For example if my wife was taking Emerson we would need to ask one of the male parents/leaders to supervise him while we were sleeping. If anything was needed they could go get the mom. <!-· The $92 covers the person staying (child or adult) for admission, food (4 meals), 1 excursion and all other activities but not including any merit badges not covered by and excursion. <!-· The merit badges are journalism, aviation, oceanography, astronomy. If we don’t get the Fort Sumter Tour our second choice is the oceanography merit badge which would be included in the $92. <!-· If you and your scout are planning to attend any of these it will be $5 for the cubscouts and $7 for the boyscouts (weblos II’s by then will be BSA). <!-· All parents attending these classes, with the exception of the aviation, will also be charged. <!-· These activities require advance enrollment and also some pre-class homework. <!-· All day trippers will need to inform me of their attendance in these classes and the cost could be more then $5-$7 and we need to have that info in by 2-14. <!-· We will be trying to block off a group of rooms near this area for those not staying on the ship, but by all means plan as you will. <!-· If you are unable to plan or plans change after the dates we have included you can still try and make those arrangements, but we cannot insure that you will be able to participate with the pack. This does not include the overnight stay. That has to be done by 2-14. <!-· Smokers need to make sure they have very good walking shoes. The smoking areas could be remote. If you have any questions please feel free to email/call or ask. |
